Willem Roelofs
1822-1897
Willem Roelofs was born in Amsterdam 1822, he died in
Berchem (Antwerpen) 1897. Student of the Art School
in The Hague.
Willem Roelofs is one of the famous painters of the
Haagse School. Painter of landscapes, especially
landscapes with cattle.
He gave painting lessons to his sons O.W.A. Roelofs
and W.E. Roelofs jr.
Exhibitions in Amsterdam, Antwerpen, Den Haag and
Leeuwarden. Works in possession of the Rijksmuseum
and Museum Fodor Amsterdam, Gronings Museum,
Rijksmuseum H.W. Mesdag Den Haags, Teylers Stichting
Haarlem and many others.
