Model Eva often posed for the painter. There is a resemblance with the work of Kees van Dongen in the use of paint and composition. Sluijters admired Kees van Dongen strongly and was influenced by him during the twentieth.

Johannes Carolus Bernardus (Jan) Sluijters (17 December 1881, 's-Hertogenbosch – 8 May 1957, Amsterdam) was a Dutch painter.
Sluijters (in English often spelled "Sluyters") was a leading pioneer of various post-impressionist movements in the Netherlands.[1] He experimented with several styles, including fauvism and cubism, finally settling on a colorful expressionism. His paintings feature nude studies, portraits, and still lifes.

‘s-Hertogenbosch, he died in Amsterdam 1959.
Student at the Art School in ‘s-Hertogenbosch and
Amsterdam. Jan Sluijters got in 1904 the Prix de Rome.
He travelled to Spain and Italy.
Painter of figures, especially nudes, landscapes,
flowers and drawings of children.
Jan Sluijters is one of the famous Dutch artists, he
made big name with his portrets and his nudes.
Jan Sluijters had exhibitions in the Stedelijk Museum
Amsterdam, Museum Boymans-van Beuningen Rotterdam,
Singer Museum Laren, Haags Gemeentemiseum,
Dordrechts Museum etc,etc.
