Berend Cornelis Koekkoek
1803-1862
Barend Cornelis Koekkoek was born in Middelburg (Zealand,
Holland) October 11th, 1803. He died in Cleve (Germany)
April 5th, 1862.
Student Artschools in Middelburg and Amsterdam; also a pupil of his father J.H. Koekkoek. He lived in Hilversum,
Amsterdam and Nijmegen and after 1836 in Cleve (Germany).
He travelled in Germany and Belgium.
Painter of landscapes with luxurious trees and forests.
B.C. Koekkoek is the most gifted and famous painter of the
Romantic period. He also wrote books about art.
Exhibitions in Amsterdam, The Hague and Rotterdam.
Works in possession of all big Dutch museums, and museums
in Germany.
