Jan Weissenbruch
1822-1880
Johannes ‘Jan’ Weissenbruch was born in the Hague in 1822
he died in the Hague on February 15th, 1880.
Student of the Artschool in The Hague.
One of the best townview painters of his time, his works are still
much in demand. In 1857 he obtained his first ‘golden artprize’.
He worked and lived in The Hague. He travelled in Belgium and
in Holland he liked to visit the smaller towns like Culemborg, Gouda,
Leersum etc.
Exhibitions in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Groningen, Haarlem
and The Hague.
Works in numerous Dutch museums
