Georges Lemmen
1865-1916

Georges Lemmen was born in Schaarbeek in 1865, he died in Ukkel, 1916. Belgium.
He was the son of an architect. George Lemmen studied at the Artschool of Saint-Josse-ten-Noode.
Member of the "Cercle des XX" (founded in 1884). This "Cercle" had great influence on the Belgian art scene, they introduced the public to names like Seurat, Signac etc.
After 1889 the style of Georges Lemmen becomes more free, this was influenced by Theo van Rysselberghe.
Works in possession of museums in Brussel, Elsene, Gant and Antwerp.
