Willem Paerels
1878-1962
Willem Paerels, born in Delft (Holland) 1878 he died in
Braine-l’Alleud (Belgium) 1962. By birth Willem Paerels
had the Dutch nationality but he changed to the Belgian
nationality.
He was self-taught. At first he painted impressionistic,
than he followed the fauvistic stream and at last he was
with the Flamish expressionistic painters.
Willem Paerels painted portrets, figures, still-lives and
landscapes.
Works by Willem Paerels in museums in Antwerp and
Brussels (Belgium), the Haags Gemeentemuseum
(The Hague) and Museum Boymans-van Beuningen
in Rotterdam.
