E.R. Pougheon
1886-1955
Eugène Robert Pougheon was born July 18th, 1886 in Paris. He died in Paris in 1955. Student of the Ecole des Beaux-Arts and the Ecole des Arts Decoratifs in Paris. He won the Prix de Rome in 1914. E.R. Pougheon stayed considerable time at the Villa de Medici in Rome, he became director of this Villa in 1942. Exhibited since 1911 in the Salon des Artistes Français, here he won a silver medal in 1927 and a gold one in 1929. Painted often with heavy lines and forms, almost sculpted banks of rivers, nudes and persons. His large compositions like murals in the Eglise du Saint-Esprit in Paris are wellknown. Painter of historic work, persons, murals, nudes and landscapes.
