Floris Arntzenius
1864-1925
Floris Arntzenius was born in Soerabaja (Dutch Indies) in 1864, hij died in The Hague in 1925. Pupil of the artschool in Amsterdam and Antwerp. Floris Arntzenius is member of the famous group artists who formed the “Haagse school”. In the beginning of his carreer he painted landscapes, later on he specialized in painting town- and villageviews, beaches, figures and portrets. Regarding his style and the choise of his subjects his work fits in with the impressionistic painters from Amsterdam like Breitner and Israels. Floris Arntzenius had exhibitions in Amsterdam, The Hague and Rotterdam. Works in possession of the Haags Gemeente- museum and Stedelijk Museum De Lakenhal in Leiden.
