George Hendrik Breitner
1857-1923
George Hendrik Breitner was born in Rotterdam 1857, he died in Amsterdam 1923. He studied at the artschools in The Hague, Amsterdam and in Paris. He got instructions from W. Maris. George Breitner is known as the painter of life in the streets of Amsterdam, he also painted nudes and military scenes. He got numerous prices on exhibitions in Holland and abroad. Works by George Breitner in musea all over Holland, a.o. Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Gemeentemuseum Arnhem, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen Rotterdam, Singer Museum Laren, Frans Halsmuseum Haarlem, Kröller-Müller Otterlo etc.
