Paul Joseph Constantin Gabriël
1828-1903
Paul Joseph Constantin Gabriël, born in Amsterdam 1828, died in Scheveningen (near The Hague) in 1903. Student of the Artschool in Amsterdam, influenced by Anton Mauve and adviced by Willem Roelofs sr. Paul Gabriël lived and worked in The Netherlands and Belgium. At first he painted in the romantic style of his masters, later on he followed his own style. He was mainly a painter of landscapes (polders). Paul Grabri�l and Anton Mauve worked more than once together. He had numerous exhibitions, his works are in various Dutch museums, a.o. Centraal Museum Utrecht, Rijksmuseum Kröller Müller Otterlo, Haags Gemeente- museum, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam etc.
