Dutch Painters & Belgian Painters (223)
Johannes F. Hoppenbrouwers
1819-1866
Johannes Franciscus Hoppenbrouwers studied at the Artschool in The Hague and he was a pupil of the famous landscape painter Adreas Schelfhout. Johannes Hoppenbrouwes painted romantic winter- and summerscapes. The composition and the atmosphere of his paintings remind you of his teacher A. Schelfhout. Sometimes the figures on his paintings were done by Charles Rochussen, Schelfhout, David Bles and S.L. Verveer. Works by Hoppenbrouwers in the Haags Gemeentemuseum, Amsterdams Historisch Museum and Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam.
