Willem van Leusden
1886-1974
Willem van Leusden was born in Utrecht September 25th, 1886, he died in Maarssen in 1974.
Pupil of the Artschool in The Hague and Amsterdam.
He lived and worked in The Hague till 1906, than in Amsterdam andafter 1913 in Maarssen. He travelled to Belgium and France.
Willem van Leusden was a painter, he made also pen drawings and lithographs, till 1915 especially cathedrals and city views, after 1915 his work becomes cubistic and abstract and after 1930 surrealistic.
He formed an art circle with his pupil Johan Moesman (1909) andWillem Wagenaar (1907), they discovered the Parisian Surrealism.
