Wiegman, Mathieu 1886-1971
Mattheüs Johannes Marie ‘Matthieu’ Wiegman was born in Zwolle 1886, he died in Bergen N.H. 1971. Holland. He studied at the Art School in Amsterdam. He lived in The Netherlands, than France and after 1930 permanently in Bergen NH. Matthieu Wiegman painted landscapes and figures, he also made excellent wall-paintings, stainglass windows and mozaïcs. He was one of the leading figures of the famous Dutch “Bergense School”. Professor at the Art School of Amsterdam. Works by Matthieu Wiegman in possession of the Haags Gemeentemuseum, Centraal Museum Utrecht, Dordrechts Museum, Kröller-Müller Otterlo and others.
