Petrus J. Schotel
1808-1865
Petrus Johannes Schotel, born in Dordrecht in 1808, he died in Dresden (Germany) in 1865. Pupil of his father Johannes Christiaan Schotel (1787 - 1838) and of C.J.L. Portman. He lived in Dordrecht, from 1851 - 1856 in Kampen and as from 1860 he settled in Germany in D�sseldorf and Dresden. He made study tours to Belgium, France, and Germany and in 1840 he made a voyage on the North Sea on board of a warship of the Dutch Navy. From 1830 till 1848 he was an instructor of the Royal Navy Institute in Medemblik. In 1833 P.J. Schotel became a member of the Royal Academy of Amsterdam. Exhibitions in Amsterdam, Groningen, Rotterdam and The Hague.
